CHICKENS | Change to Garvo premium chicken feed | alfamix pride fancy bird feed line

For years, gammarus (dried shrimp) has been used in chicken feed as a natural source of animal protein. Until recently, the use of gammarus in chicken feed has been tolerated in the Netherlands.

Why this change?
The Netherlands will fully adhere to European legislation (Regulation (EC) No. 999/2001). According to these rules, the use of fishmeal in chicken feed is allowed, but gammarus does not fall under this category. Therefore, it will soon no longer be allowed in chicken feed, both for hobby and production chickens.

What does this mean for our chicken feed range?
We are working on nutritious alternatives that comply with the regulations and meet the nutritional needs of your animals. This way, you can continue to rely on the quality you are accustomed to.

Will the 1055, 1070, 1075, 1076, and 1080 no longer be available?
Because the formulations of the 1055, 1070, 1075, 1076, and 1080 are also suitable for ornamental birds, we have transferred these directly to our ornamental bird range. They will remain available, but with new product numbers and packaging.

Packed under controlled atmosphere
All the above products are available in a gas-sealed packaging (packed under controlled atmosphere).

This offers two important advantages:

  • Longer shelf life
  • Less chance of unwanted insects in the bag (such as weevils, moths, etc.)
