Dyes that the chicken cannot produce itself, but which do contribute to a healthy appearance of the legs and ochre-yellow egg yolks

CHICKENS | Natural dyes in Garvo chicken feed!

Natural colorants in chicken feed!

Chickens should be vital and energetic as they roam the coop and garden. Good feed plays a crucial role in this. For years, we’ve been using carotene in our feed: colorants that chickens can’t produce themselves, but which do contribute to a healthy appearance of their legs and ochre-yellow egg yolks.

Carotenes come in two forms: yellow and red. While they used to be available only synthetically, fortunately, there are now excellent natural alternatives. At Garvo, we consciously choose these natural sources because we believe chickens thrive on feed that’s as close to nature as possible.

For years, we’ve been using the yellow from marigolds for our yellow dye. Since March, we’ve also added red dye from bell peppers. These natural dyes combine to create the beautiful ochre-yellow hue in egg yolks and the healthy yellow color of your chickens’ legs. You’ll see the results not only in the birds’ vitality, but also daily in their nests.

These natural dyes are incorporated into:
• 5013 alfamix chicks
• 730/731 complete laying pellets and laying meal for chickens.

This choice aligns with our vision: feeding chickens as nature intended. So you get healthy eggs, and your chickens can live for years with joy and vitality.
