A good foundation starts with forage

A suitable diet for alpacas always starts with good-quality forage. Alpacas are naturally adapted to a high-fibre diet, which is why forage forms the basis of their nutrition. As a guideline, approximately 1 kg of good-quality forage per alpaca per day can be provided.

The amount of supplementary feed depends on factors such as the animal’s age, weight, condition and the ambient temperature. Whenever possible, it is advisable to divide the daily amount of concentrate feed between two feeding times.

6003 Alpaca Muesli: extra nutrients when needed

Not every alpaca has the same nutritional requirements. Growing, pregnant and lactating animals, in particular, may need additional energy and nutrients.

6003 Alpaca Muesli is a tasty, high-quality muesli specially developed for alpacas with increased nutritional requirements.

• supports a healthy gut flora;
• rich in vitamin D3 and zinc;
• has an optimal calcium-to-phosphorus ratio;
• contributes to growth, condition and resistance.

The recommended amount is 300 to 500 grams per animal per day, depending on the animal’s individual needs.

6001 Alpaca Fibre: additional fibre to complement forage

For alpacas that mainly need additional fibre support, there is 6001 Alpaca Fibre. This fibre-rich 3 mm pellet is a valuable addition to a forage-based diet.

• supports optimal utilisation of forage.

The recommended amount is 70 to 150 grams per animal per day, depending on its individual needs.
