complete products for chickens (in and around the house)

Chickens are always busy and make sure there’s never a dull moment. They’re useful and pleasant pets. Every chicken has a different character, and many can become very tame. Whether you prefer a tasty egg or value the company of these animals, the most important thing is always a lively, healthy chicken. Feeding chickens is fun, because chickens are grateful eaters. Most chickens even tend to eat too much, picking out the most tasty corns or pellets from the feed first. Make sure that they don’t become too fat, especially during the time that they are not laying. A lean chicken begins laying again more easily. In order to be strong, vital and healthy, they need all the nutrients contained in the feed, even the less popular ones. Garvo has something tasty for every chicken, whereby chickens ingest all the necessary nutrients.

tasty egg from own chicken

Just three days after being laid, an egg develops it full flavour. Furthermore, a fresh egg is very hard to peel, because the shell membrane is still very close to the inside of the shell. Tip: write the laying date of the egg on the shell with a soft lead pencil. Store the eggs in a cool space outside of the refrigerator. Egg shells are porous, and therefore eggs can dry out or easily absorb the odors of other produce. Three to ten days after being laid the eggs taste the best and can be peeled the easiest.

mash-, pellet- and grain products

Garvo’s total chicken feeds contain everything a chicken needs, including corns (energy), proteins (nutrients) and vitamins and minerals (protection). Total chicken feed often consists of mash or pellets. Mash has a coarse, even structure, which encourages the chicken’s gizzard to grind, thereby stimulating and activating the digestion. That’s why mash is preferred above pellets, except when chickens start eating selectively or their feathers become dirty. Pellets prevent selective eating behavior and possible waste, but chickens sometimes eat too much. Weighing the pros and cons is, therefore, important. Switching between pellets and mash (or vice versa) requires practice.

Besides mash and pellet products, there are corn products or the 107006 chicken treats from Garvo which are well suited to complete the menu.

Several of the grain mixtures are supplemented as needed, for example with protein- and mineral pellets and grit. Garvo’s chicken treats contain lots of fresh water shrimp and is often used to completely tame the animals.

feeding advice

  • feed fresh food daily, no more than the chicks or chickens can eat. This prevents selective eating behavior
  • make sure there’s always enough stomach gravel and chicken grit, unless the chicken grit is in the total feed
  • give fresh water every day
